It's been a long time since I read A Wrinkle in Time, but I have very fond memories. ABC TV Movie doesn't fill me with hope though... (via)

Aloha Bill:

Noticed your comment here. When did you first read the book? I read it in when I was 9 years of age. I liked the way the movie was heading, however, it seem to take a turn, then it seem to get back on track. However, I of course would have liked it to be more Scientific, and still maintain the essence of the theme of Peace not War. Perhaps it relates to the general audience better as is . Least that's my perception.

Kind regards,

Bryan

I grew up next door to Madeleine L'engle & her family when she was writing W.I.T. It was a pre-Kennedy assasination era and she was writing in rural idyllic Connecticut. "1984" meets C.S.Lewis abd a futuristic Lewis Carrol.(Lewis & Carrol are among her favorite authors) I longed to see it on the big screen and realize that the book is much too expansive for any visual production. It can only be enjoyed by each reader's imagination.

I read the book as a child, and have remained firmly convinced ever since that the experience led to my lifelong love of reading.

After "The Lord Of The Rings" movie trilogy -- another of my favorite reading treasures -- I was hopeful for the same degree of satisfying enjoyment, but that did not happen.

I have a hard time believing Ms. L'Engle had any hand in the screenplay or production. In my opinion, it was a terrible movie. It does not take away, however, the gratitude I feel toward her for all her fine writings for children and adults.
